Our History

Shiloh Nurseries began as a family business in 1937 in the town of Shiloh in western York County. In our early days, the nursery served as a local grower and landscape installer. A small garden center was eventually added to serve the public's demand for quality plants. For many decades, Shiloh Nurseries was one of very few landscapers and growers in the area and, in 1958, became incorporated. Operations continued for the next 10 years and, in 1968, Shiloh Nurseries was sold to new ownership.

Shiloh Nurseries continued its business in the town of Shiloh until 1976 when it was moved to its present location in Emigsville. Regardless of its prior location, Shiloh Nurseries retained its widely recognized, although misleading, name. The garden center was expanded to become the largest in York County. The company discontinued its growing operation to focus on becoming the best landscape contractor in the area.

Shiloh Nurseries continued to grow through the next 2 decades. In 2002, the company renovated its facilities, including a state of the art garden center. In 2009, Shiloh is focusing entirely on its design and installation services, while Brown's Farm Market and Orchard operate the garden center facility.

Shiloh Nurseries continues today under the same ownership serving South Central Pennsylvania as York County's longest running landscape contractor. It is Shiloh Nurseries' commitment to quality horticultural practices that have allowed us to grow for the past 70 years. Our reputation for the best plant material and service allows us to continue to service our loyal customers while allowing us the opportunity to greet our new clients in anticipation of a long relationship.
